Understanding Upholstery Cleaning Codes
Most furniture has a cleaning code tag, usually found under the cushions or on the frame. Here’s what they mean:
W — Water-based cleaning safe. This is the most common and easiest to clean professionally.
S — Solvent-based cleaning only. Water can cause shrinking, staining, or damage.
S/W — Either water-based or solvent cleaning is safe.
X — Vacuum only. No liquid cleaning of any kind.
